Global Inspirations – Flavours from Around the World
At Urban Crunch, flavor isn’t just an ingredient; it’s an adventure. Being established for over 50 years of expertise in nuts and snacking, we’ve travelled far and wide to bring the world’s boldest tastes straight to your snack bowl.
Nuts grow in diverse regions worldwide, from tropical climates to temperature climates; specific nuts also have unique growing regions. For example, Brazil nuts are native to Amazon rainforests while macadamia nuts are native to Australia.
Nuts have been transported for thousands of years; in fact there is actually evidence of their use and trade back to ancient times. Did you know, walnuts were traded along the Silk Road and sea routes by the 8th century BC? And peanuts were carried on ships as a food source by the 17th century?
Here at Urban Crunch, we want to take you on a journey around the world to explain each of our special flavours and the history behind them.
A World Tour in Every Bite
So, what is our mission? To create unforgettable snacking experiences inspired by the rich tapestry of global cuisines. From the sweet spices of the Middle East to the zesty kick of Latin America, each Urban Crunch flavor tells a story.
With the fusion of unique flavours, each product line brings to life its own character through imagination and appeal and to us bringing different areas of the world together makes it even more worth it.

Flavours Inspired by Global Traditions

South American Sweetness
Our perfectly sweet honey roasted cashews are encased in a crunchy outer shell, so you can hear that delicate crunch as you dive in. Cashew nuts originate from North Easten Brazil and from there Portuguese explorers brought the tree over to India, where it flourished in the coastal areas.
‘Honey Roasted’ is a technique used to coat food, most popularly nuts, in a honey gloss and cooking it. In 1987, a scientist named Bill Hoover developed a method to glaze the nuts after roasting.
Today, cashew nuts are most commonly eaten as a snack or used as a light topping on food or used as a key ingredient in cooking, particularly in stir fries, curries and desserts.
Salty Middle Easten
Our fava beans are the perfect buttery and salty combination mixed with the natural taste of the earth. They are made from only three ingredients – all natural – and are nut free, dairy free and gluten free, but of course still bursting with crunch and flavour.
Fava beans originate from the Middle East and evidence shows they date back as far as 10,000 years ago! They became more widely grown during the bronze age, where they started to become popular in Southern England.
Fava beans were a staple food for civilisations like Greeks, Romans and those in the Eastern Mediterranean. In Britain, they were also a significant part of their everyday diet, especially for peasants.

Asian Spice
Wasabi peanuts combine peanuts with the spicy wasabi flavouring, their history traces back to the mid 20th century in Mexico, where a Japanese immigrant called Yoshihei Nakatani is credited to creating these spicy Japanese style treats in the 1940s.
Although not always the most popular snack to grab, due to their intense heat, they are used in many recipes, particularly Asian inspired dishes like garnish to rice bowls.
